Refined Fool opened its London Road taproom on April Fool's Day 2018, which is exactly the kind of detail that tells you what you need to know about the place. The brewery had started years earlier as a DIY operation in converted maple syrup drums on Davis Street in Sarnia, run by four directors with a shared sense that beer should be made by people who didn't take themselves too seriously: Nathan Colquhoun, Tony Alexander, Brandon Huybers, and Matthew Barnes. The Davis Street kit was the proof of concept. London Road was the bet — a full brewing facility, indoor seating, patios, a long bar, murals, and a food program built into the taproom from day one. Six years on, Refined Fool has grown to three locations and more than thirty people, and London Road remains the flagship — where the majority of the beer is brewed, and where most people, when they say "the brewery," mean.
The taproom carries twenty tap lines, which is a meaningful number for Sarnia and a serious number for a brewery that still does most of its own brewing on-site. The current Fool taplist runs IPA-forward and self-aware in the same breath — Van Full of Weirdos Juicy IPA, Uncles In the Wild IPA, How to Pretend You're a Normal Human Family IPA, Catstronaut Session Hazy, Big Sexy, Science Light. Underneath the names is a real range: a hazelnut espresso porter (Sleddin), a cream ale (Cabin Jeans), a salted lemon lager (Turbo), a brut IPA (Zane Lost His Avocado Bag), hard seltzers, hard teas, an Ontario craft lager. The taps rotate, but the throughline is consistent — this is a brewery that names its beer the way it names its burgers, and brews it like the names are a promise it intends to keep.

What to order
Tiers reflect how diners actually talk about each dish — Diamond is the rarest. Tap a dish to cast your vote.
The London Road room has 20 tap lines and is described as the place where most Refined Fool beer is brewed, making it the clearest beer-first version of the brand.
02
Burger Rebellion inside
The food program is not an afterthought: Burger Rebellion gives the taproom a practical dinner anchor, with burgers, shareables, wings, flatbreads, kids items, and plant-based options.
03
Calendar-driven room
Recurring trivia, Burger Bingo, karaoke, euchre, puzzle night, ticketed shows, and live music mean the room can be chosen for a social plan rather than only a pint.
The Playbook
How to eat at Refined Fool Brewing Company
1
Let the Taplist Set the First Round
Do not start Refined Fool with only one beer style in mind. Read the taplist first, then use a contrast like Sarnia Light beside Van Full of Weirdos or Uncles In the Wild to make the round feel specific to this brewery rather than any taproom.
2
Anchor the Table With The Interrogator
The Interrogator is the burger to order when the table wants the food to match the brewery’s excess and humour. It is big, unserious in the right way, and better inside this room than it would be as a neutral takeout burger.
3
Pair The Meltdown With Van Full of Weirdos
The Meltdown and Van Full of Weirdos make a strong food-and-beer read because both feel attached to the Refined Fool personality. Beer cheese, fried mushrooms, bacon, pickles, onions, Rebel Sauce, and juicy IPA energy are the room in one order.
4
Plan Trivia or Burger Bingo as the Social Night
Trivia, Burger Bingo, karaoke, and other recurring events can turn the taproom from casual pint stop into the whole night’s plan. Use that deliberately: choose an event when you want noise and structure, and pick a quieter time when the beer and burgers are the point.
5
Order The Impossible for a Real Plant-Based Path
The Impossible gives plant-based diners a direct route into the Burger Rebellion side of the taproom instead of forcing them into snacks. It matters for mixed groups where one person wants a brewery night and another needs the food menu to meet them halfway.
Key Strengths
What this room does best
8.0
Craft Beer Destination
Refined Fool London Road is beer-first in the best way: 20 tap lines, on-site brewing, and a taproom identity built around the brewery's own personality. The food matters, but the pint is the anchor.
8.0
Live Entertainment & Interactive Dining
The calendar gives the taproom its social engine. Trivia, Burger Bingo, karaoke, live music, euchre, and puzzle nights turn the room into a recurring hangout rather than a place for one quick beer.
7.5
Burger Authority
Burger Rebellion gives the taproom a real food centre. Cheeseburgers, multi-patty builds, plant-based patties, and Burger Bingo make the burger program strong enough to shape the visit alongside the beer.
7.5
Plant-Based Friendly
Plant-based diners have a usable path through the Burger Rebellion menu. The Impossible, The Reformer, vegan options, and gluten-free coverage make Refined Fool easier for mixed groups than many brewery rooms.
6.5
Patio & Outdoor Dining
The patio is a supporting strength for warm-weather brewery visits. It gives the London Road room another way to work for pints, burgers, and group hangs, even if the taproom and beer list remain the main draw.
